Starting your own business can be a huge task to take upon yourself; but when you achieve worldwide sales when you hadn't even planned on starting a business, it can make the task much easier. A couple in Fredericton decided to produce their own chemical free, all natural deodorant for their own personal use when they could not find any in stores. What started out as a personal project turned into a full fledged business by selling their homemade deodorant to natural food stores and online globally.
This couple picked a very hot trend that is taking over the marketplace; organic, chemical free, natural, and pure. Consumers will search out, go out of their way, and are willing to spend more for natural and organic products. They even expect to pay more! I am not surprised that this one-of-a-kind deodorant has taken off in sales so quickly!
This story is very inspiring for me as a business student! When I think of starting a business or even just getting into the field of work, it is very intimidating. Starting a business is such a daunting task; I can't see myself ever accomplishing such a feat. However, after reading this article, it gives me hope! When you start out with a good product, building a business around that product becomes a fairly easy task; this couple built a business without even having the intentions to do so! If they can do it by accident, then I think I could do it if I really tried!
It warms my heart when I hear of success stories from our own little province and communities; real people who make it on their own! I suspect this article would be inspiring for all of us in this business course! We will be successful in our lives; especially after taking this course and having the skills necessary to do so. If people with no business experience can make it big, imagine what we could do!
It is great to see people from our province achieve great heights, to go global is probably this biggest achievement. I find it such a strange business to enter, making deodorant from your kitchen, but hey it put them on the map. Truly inspiring.
ReplyDeleteThat is really interesting Christie. It is crazy what can happen when your not expecting it. I think it would be really interesting if that were to happen to me, have a business take off that I wouldn't even know was a business.
ReplyDeleteIt is great for them to find such great success without even looking. They had a need they fulfilled themselves and in doing so filled the demand of others too! People strive so hard for what this couple managed to do without even trying.
ReplyDeleteI think this couple from Fredericton, did a smart thing when they surveyed stores to look for chemical free products. Once they realized they had a one of a kind business it was important to sell the product to the public. Having sales world wide is definitely the direction anyone would want to see their product take.
